"Planet X is a commendably ambitious high-concept film for a low-budget production, its use of documentary and news footage greatly adding to its realism. In a world seemingly paralysed by the refugee crisis and questions of immigration and identity, this story of migration, dispossession and authoritarian force will surely only become more relevant."   Andrew Nowell, Wigan Evening Post and Leigh Observer

I loved the film and thought the concept was brilliant and unique, which is hard to do.

brings us speculative grit in an alternative future. The human race struggles to come to terms with a planet that has appeared in the Earth’s atmosphere and attached itself via a mysterious umbilical cord. The tension slowly builds, as curiosity and fascination give way to inevitable panic and possible paranoia. Filmed documentary style Gill makes minimal but effective use of special effects on a budget. Impressive.

What is attractive about the film is that it is narrated as a TV News Report. Various shows, reporters, specialists, and inhabitants are interviewed,

arguing for or against moving to the alternative world. The short portrays well that struggle, stress, and uncertainty felt by many and which results in having a corrosive mind.    Enrrico Wood – Oaxaca Filmfest’s Curator

'Rohit Gill delivers a gripping film. Intelligently mixing sci fi and pressing contempory issues.

A must see.'    Pedro Sabrosa - Visual Effects Supervisor / Emmy and VES Award winner

Made for a mere £100, “Planet X” is an ambitious sci-fi short on a shoestring budget. Employing a mock-documentary style, Rohit Gill’s satirical film documents the aftermath of a foreign planet appearing in Earth’s atmosphere. The arrival spreads fear amongst the population and is used for political gain by the government. Despite the non-existent budget, “Planet X’s” special effects are surprisingly accomplished whilst the fake news reel footage and panicked interviews with the public create an effective atmosphere of fear and uncertainty.
